Truth

Truth

Truth is deafening to ears who's comfort is in lies

Truth is a sweet song to the hearers of it's dissonant tune

Truth can be terrifying to face

other times a welcome relief

Truth can be debilitating to accept

but freeing to those who can embrace it's gifts

Truth's lessons are an admirable endeavor

life long and painful.

Living by Truth is something to die for

Dying for Truth is to live

freely

honestly

honorably

Lovingly

Truth is a friend to Lovers of love

an enemy to the weak and hateful

Truth is a fierce Lion, making even the strongest cower

if they are hiding from it

Truth's light is blinding

to those who don't walk in it

and sometimes even to the ones that do

Truth shines her light into every corner of every heart

searching for her lover there -

her companion

will she find one in yours?

Remember When?

Remember When?

I Remember when things were different

but the same

I Remember when we sat there

I asked you questions about the stars and planets and the universe

you always had the answers

I Remember when life wasn't so complicated
I Remember when love was easy

I Remember when we could answer

a), b), c), d)

I Remember when you thought I didn't like you

I Remember when we were both hopeful for new life

I Remember when you got it first

I Remember when we took each other for granted

I Remember when we lost each other for a time

And, I Remember when we found one another again

This time my friend, for good.

Why This sadness?

Why This Sadness?

Why this sadness?

He asks

with perceptive simplicity

His eyes glimmering with hope and sincerity

that my answer or search thereof

will lead to enlightenment

My answer is welling up inside

My heart is crying out the answer

but my lips can't articulate it

I am left to answer lamely

I don't know”

but, I do.

This sadness is for love lost

This sadness is for love that may never be

This sadness is for shattered hopes

This sadness is for the pain of words spoken

This sadness is for words that will never be uttered

This sadness is for broken hearts and promises

This sadness is for the bitter disappointment of unmet expectations

This sadness is for the realization of what has happened

This sadness is for dreams that will never come true

This sadness is for an ending that may not be “Happily Ever After”

This sadness is for this thing we call life, and for our pathetic failed attempts to love one another the way we ought

Why this sadness?

Because it is the human lot

Because sometimes the most beautiful things can grow from a heart of true sorrow

For in sorrow comes reflection and in reflection comes perspective and articulation of feeling

And with articulation of feelings comes expression

and with expression comes understanding

and with understanding comes reconciliation

and perhaps a new beginning

for that happy ending.
